Story
Shadow Moon is released from prison early after a sudden personal loss leaves him adrift. On the journey home, he meets the mysterious Mr. Wednesday and is drawn into work that quickly becomes stranger than any normal job.
As Shadow travels across the United States, he encounters a widening cast of odd figures, scattered mysteries, and stories about how gods came to America. The trip gradually reveals a conflict between older mythic powers and newer forces tied to modern life, belief, and change.
The narrative unfolds through detours, interludes, and dreamlike episodes as Shadow tries to make sense of the people around him and the hidden rules of this world. The story builds toward a larger confrontation while keeping its central questions about faith, identity, and what Americans worship in view.
