More about this book

Story

A prophecy says the world will end on Saturday, and heaven and hell are preparing for the final showdown. But an angel and a demon who have spent ages on Earth have grown fond of humanity and do not want the apocalypse to happen.

The problem gets complicated when the Antichrist is accidentally sent to the wrong family, scattering the expected chain of events. As the countdown to doomsday continues, various witches, witchfinders, children, horsemen, and other odd figures become tangled in the effort to locate the child and stop what is coming.

The story follows these intersecting threads through a series of comic, satirical set pieces, with the angel and demon at the center of the attempt to avert disaster. Along the way, the book keeps circling questions about good, evil, human nature, and whether destiny can be sidestepped by choice and muddled human behavior.
