More about this book
Story
It is Hogswatch night on the Discworld, but the holiday’s gift-bringer has gone missing. As belief in the Hogfather falters, Death takes over the role in an effort to keep the season, and the world, from unraveling.
While Death performs the duties of the missing figure in his own literal-minded way, Susan—a governess determined to stay normal—gets pulled into the search. Meanwhile, wizards, assassins, and strange powers complicate the situation, and the plot moves among several overlapping threads.
As the story develops, the holiday becomes a test of what humans believe, why stories matter, and what happens when rituals and myths are threatened. The narrative builds toward a convergence of comic chaos, danger, and philosophical confrontation, with the fate of the season hanging on the answer.
