More about this book
Story
Artemis Fowl is a wealthy twelve-year-old genius from a criminal family trying to restore lost fortune after his father's disappearance and his mother's decline. He discovers that fairies and other magical beings are real, living in a secret underground society with advanced technology and strict rules.
Artemis and his bodyguard Butler capture Captain Holly Short of the fairy police in a bid to secure fairy gold. The kidnapping triggers a fast-moving conflict between Artemis's household and the forces of the hidden fairy world, including officers, inventors, and other magical creatures.
As the standoff escalates into a siege, both sides use tricks, technology, magic, and strategy to try to outmaneuver the other. The story follows the clash from multiple angles and builds toward a tense resolution in which Artemis's plans collide with a world far stranger and more powerful than he expected.
