More about this book
Story
Animals on a farm grow dissatisfied with the way they are treated by humans and imagine a fairer life run by themselves. Inspired by a visionary speech, they organize a rebellion, drive out the human owner, and set up their own rules for a new society.
At first, the new order seems to promise equality, shared labor, and self-government. But the animals soon discover that not everyone has the same power, education, or influence, and the cleverest among them begin to reshape the rules, the language, and the story of what is happening.
As the farm’s leadership becomes increasingly authoritarian, the original ideals are eroded by fear, propaganda, and rewritten memory. What begins as a hopeful revolt gradually becomes a grim cycle of domination, until the animals can no longer tell the difference between their new rulers and the old ones.
