More about this book

Story

Guy Montag is a fireman in a future society where his job is to destroy books and the houses that hide them. He lives an obedient, routine life shaped by television, distraction, and official certainty until an encounter with a curious young neighbor begins to unsettle him.

As Montag starts to question the world around him, he becomes drawn toward the forbidden books he once helped burn. His marriage, work, and sense of identity come under pressure as he moves from compliance toward curiosity, secrecy, and open resistance.

The story follows his growing break with the system and his search for meaning in a society that treats independent thought as dangerous. Along the way, the novel contrasts emptiness and conformity with memory, language, and the fragile persistence of knowledge.
