More about this book
Story
Winston Smith lives under a totalitarian regime where the Party controls history, language, and daily life through surveillance, propaganda, and fear. He works rewriting records to match official truth, even as he privately doubts the world he serves and begins keeping forbidden thoughts in secret.
As Winston drifts toward rebellion, he forms a forbidden relationship that briefly opens a path to trust, intimacy, and resistance. But the more he learns about the Party’s reach and its methods of control, the more dangerous his situation becomes.
The story turns darker as Winston is drawn into the regime’s deeper machinery of manipulation, interrogation, and reeducation. What follows is a devastating struggle over memory, truth, identity, and the possibility of remaining human under absolute power.
