More about this book
Story
A mysterious bandaged stranger arrives at a rural English inn during winter, arousing suspicion among the villagers and the innkeepers. Strange incidents and thefts make people fear that something unnatural is among them, while the stranger insists on being left alone.
The novel then reveals the stranger’s secret: he is a scientist who has made himself invisible through experiment. As his account unfolds, the practical costs of invisibility become clear, and the story shifts from local mystery to a broader account of his plans, desperation, and mounting hostility toward others.
From there, the narrative becomes a pursuit story as the invisible man’s actions draw in authorities, neighbors, and former associates. His condition, his choices, and his escalating violence push the story toward confrontation and an ending shaped by pursuit, revelation, and collapse.
