More about this book

Story

Set years after the earlier Uglies books, the novel follows Aya Fuse, a fifteen-year-old living in a future city where reputation, attention, and public storytelling determine status and privileges. Aya has a low face rank and wants desperately to become famous by “kicking” a story that will get everyone talking.

While investigating a secretive group of girls and filming them undercover, Aya uncovers something much bigger than a celebrity-making scoop. Her chase for attention draws her into conflict with powerful forces, new social rules, and dangerous secrets that threaten both her life and the wider world.

As the story expands, characters from the earlier books reappear and the plot shifts from local ambition to broader crisis. Aya is forced to decide what fame is worth, how much truth costs, and whether the world built around popularity can be trusted at all.
