More about this book

Story

Lena has escaped her old life and is trying to survive in the Wilds after leaving behind the city, her past, and the boy she loved. She is taken in by a group of invalids/resisters and must learn how to endure harsh conditions, grief, and danger while becoming stronger.

The story moves between two timelines. In the past, Lena struggles to survive among the Wilds and build trust with new allies. In the present, she is living under a false identity in the city, working with the resistance and watching a target connected to the cure and the anti-love system.

As the two timelines build, Lena is pulled into kidnapping, escape attempts, resistance conflict, and a new romantic connection that complicates her grief. The book ends with a major cliffhanger that reshapes what Lena knows about the people she lost and the people she is learning to trust.
