More about this book

Story

Matty lives in Village with Seer, a blind mentor, and serves as a messenger between communities. Village has long welcomed outsiders and people with wounds or differences, but that openness begins to fade as a troubling force spreads through the community.

As the village changes, the Forest around it also becomes more dangerous and hostile. Matty is drawn into a journey through the Forest, with messages to carry and a growing sense that his own unusual power may matter more than he understands.

The story links together characters and threads from earlier books in the series as Matty is sent to reach Kira and confront the worsening crisis. The journey builds toward a sacrifice-driven climax that reshapes what the characters know about themselves, their gifts, and their world.
