More about this book
Story
Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect begin in a strange, stalled stretch of prehistoric life before being pulled back into a bigger crisis. Their world is disrupted by time anomalies, improbable rescues, and the return of old companions as the story widens into a mission that threatens the universe itself.
The conflict centers on a hostile force linked to Krikkit and its killer robots, while the crew navigates bizarre detours, shifting timelines, and increasingly ridiculous scientific ideas. Along the way, the book leans into recurring jokes, sudden narrative turns, and repeated callbacks to earlier events in the series.
The group eventually regathers to confront the larger danger, with the plot circling questions of fate, flight, destruction, and what it means for the universe to matter at all. The book ends as a comic science-fiction quest with escalating absurdity and a more explicit story arc than earlier installments.
