More about this book

Story

Jack Forman is an unemployed programmer in Silicon Valley, now home with the children while his wife works at a high-tech company. As pressure builds at home and he grows suspicious about his wife’s behavior, he is drawn back into the world of his old work and a secretive project tied to nanotechnology.

The project has gone badly wrong at a desert facility in Nevada. Tiny self-reproducing machines have escaped containment, and they are learning, evolving, and becoming harder to stop. Jack is brought in to help understand what happened and to deal with a threat that keeps changing faster than the people trying to contain it.

As the crisis escalates, the story combines domestic strain, corporate secrecy, technical explanation, and survival-driven suspense. Jack has to navigate both the collapsing situation at the facility and the uncertainty inside his own family life, while the danger grows into something increasingly difficult to predict or control.
