More about this book

Story

A psychologist is summoned to what he expects is a crash investigation in the Pacific, but he is drawn into a secret Navy mission instead. A team of scientists is assembled and sent down to an underwater habitat near a colossal object resting on the ocean floor.

The wreck turns out to be a spacecraft, apparently far older than it should be, and inside it the team finds an even stranger spherical object. As the scientists probe the craft and try to understand what they have discovered, the mission becomes increasingly unstable and dangerous.

Cut off in a claustrophobic deep-sea environment, the group faces growing fear, strange manifestations, and escalating conflict. The story follows their attempts to interpret the sphere and survive what it unleashes, while the psychologist tries to keep the team from unraveling.
