More about this book
Story
Murderbot is still pursuing evidence against GrayCris Corporation while trying to stay hidden from authorities and keep its own situation from drawing attention. To do that, it travels under a cover identity as a security consultant and boards a transport headed toward an abandoned terraforming facility linked to the corporation's activities.
On the way and at the site, Murderbot is pulled into helping a new group of humans who are investigating the facility, along with a human-form robot named Miki. What begins as surveillance and evidence-gathering turns into a more immediate survival problem as hidden threats, sabotage, and combat bots emerge.
As Murderbot navigates the mission, it has to deal with new kinds of human-bot relationships, especially Miki's trusting connection to its humans. That forces Murderbot to confront its own reactions, its sense of freedom, and the uncomfortable fact that it may care more than it wants to admit.
