More about this book
Story
In a near-future England ruled by a fascist state after catastrophic war, a masked figure known as V begins a campaign against the regime. The government relies on surveillance, propaganda, and repression, while V answers with sabotage, theatrics, and ideology.
Early in the story, V rescues a vulnerable young woman and draws her into his hidden world of banned culture, secret history, and political awakening. Their relationship becomes central as the book alternates between public resistance, private transformation, and glimpses into the pasts of people tied to the regime.
As V’s plan unfolds, the story builds toward confrontations with the state and a wider reckoning over fear, freedom, and the cost of resistance. The narrative keeps some motives and turns withheld until later, ending on a politically charged and emotionally resonant note rather than a simple victory.
