Dark Matter

Jason Dessen is an ordinary physics professor with a wife, a son, and a life that feels settled. One night, after a seemingly routine outing, he is abducted and wakes in a world where everything is wrong: his family is gone, his life has changed, and he is treated like someone else entirely.

As Jason tries to understand what happened, he is pulled into a chain of alternate realities and escalating danger. He has to navigate unfamiliar people, strange technology, and the possibility that his own choices created more than one version of his life.

The story follows Jason’s desperate effort to get back to the family he loves while confronting questions about identity, happiness, and the road not taken. The plot keeps shifting into stranger territory as he tries to determine which life is real and what it will cost to return home.
