Fairest

Fairest follows Queen Levana before she becomes the feared ruler readers know from the main Lunar Chronicles. Told through her perspective, it begins in her youth as a lonely, insecure princess under the shadow of an abusive older sister and a loveless family life.

As Levana grows older, her need for beauty, affection, and control deepens into manipulation and coercion. The story shows her obsession with a man who does not love her, her use of glamour and mind control, and the choices that steadily turn her into a dangerous royal figure.

Alongside Levana’s descent, the book reveals earlier versions of other familiar characters and pieces together background information that connects to the larger series. It is also framed as a bridge into the next installment, with additional material at the end that points toward Winter.
