More about this book

Story

In a kingdom split by blood color, Reds are poor commoners and Silvers are a ruling elite with supernatural powers. Mare Barrow, a Red girl from the Stilts, is trying to survive poverty, conscription, and the pressure of helping her family when a chance encounter pulls her into the Silver court.

After an accident reveals that Mare has a power no Red should possess, the royal family hides the truth by presenting her as a lost Silver princess and betrothing her to a prince. Thrown into court politics, public performance, and shifting loyalties, Mare has to navigate enemies, romance, and constant surveillance while pretending to belong.

As Mare secretly works with a rebel movement against the Silver regime, she becomes trapped between revolution and survival, with betrayal, shifting alliances, and rival princes complicating every move. The story builds toward a major twist and leaves Mare facing a deeper, more dangerous conflict than the one she entered the palace to escape.
