More about this book

Story

During China’s Cultural Revolution, a young scientist experiences trauma that shapes a life-altering decision tied to a secret government project aimed at contacting extraterrestrial intelligence. That choice echoes far into the future.

Decades later, a modern-day scientist investigating the deaths of prominent researchers is pulled into a widening conspiracy involving military officials, a strange virtual-reality game, and inexplicable scientific phenomena. The investigation gradually reveals connections between Earth’s scientific crisis and a distant alien civilization.

As the mystery unfolds, the story moves between historical fallout, present-day inquiry, and the logic of an alien world marked by unstable conditions. The novel builds toward a larger confrontation between human civilization and forces beyond it, while asking what science, loyalty, and survival mean under extreme pressure.
