More about this book

Story

In 2044, the real world is bleak, and most people escape into the OASIS, a vast virtual reality where they work, study, play, and socialize through avatars. When the creator dies, he leaves behind a hidden prize that can be won only by solving a sequence of clues based on his obsessions.

Teenager Wade Watts becomes one of the first people to crack the hunt, putting himself at the center of a global competition. As the race intensifies, he must navigate rival players, corporate pressure, and the demands of a puzzle that reaches across games, media, and decades of pop culture.

The hunt grows more dangerous as Wade and his allies get closer to the prize. Their progress is tracked through gates, keys, and scoreboards, while the line between the virtual world and the collapsing real world becomes harder to ignore.
