This Inevitable Ruin

Carl and Princess Donut reach the ninth floor of the dungeon, where the long-promised Faction Wars finally begin. Nine teams compete for control of a castle at the center of a battlefield, while aliens, crawlers, former crawlers, and newly self-aware NPCs are all pulled into the conflict.

As the game’s systems destabilize, alliances form and fracture, and the scale of the struggle widens far beyond earlier floors. Carl and Donut are forced into leadership, while other familiar characters and former participants become increasingly important to the battle and the wider political struggle around it.

The floor’s rules make survival more dangerous than ever, and the stakes are personal as well as collective. Old promises, hidden loyalties, and long-building tensions come to a head as the series pushes toward a major confrontation and ends on a sharply divisive, high-intensity cliffhanger.
