Years earlier, neuroscientist Helena Smith is trying to build a way to preserve memory, especially for people facing dementia and Alzheimer's. Her research attracts powerful funding and accelerates into something far larger and more dangerous than she intended, setting off consequences that ripple through time and across competing versions of reality.

As Barry and Helena's paths converge, they are forced to deal with shifting timelines, repeated chances, and the fallout of trying to alter the past.
