The Collectors

On a dark winter night in 1970, two men in an Oxford college common room talk over drinks and warmth. Their conversation turns to two unusual works of art recently acquired by one of them: a painting of a young woman and a bronze monkey statue.

As the men compare stories, the objects’ strange history begins to emerge. Across years and places, the painting and the sculpture seem to stay bound together, drawing collectors into a pattern of coincidence, unease, and danger.

The tale stays close to the dialogue and the mystery itself, offering hints of larger worlds, shifting timelines, and hidden connections without fully explaining them.
