The Story

Journalist Lana Wallace relocates to Boston for a new reporting job, expecting business stories rather than crime. On her first day, she is pulled into the investigation of murdered businessmen and begins tracing the case into a powerful tech company.

As Lana digs deeper, she discovers lifelike doll-like companions built with advanced artificial intelligence. The dolls are designed to serve, please, and mimic human behavior, but something about them and their programming does not add up.

The investigation becomes more dangerous as Lana uncovers abuse, hacking, and the hidden motives behind the killings. Along the way, she forms a connection with one of the dolls, forcing her to confront what these beings are and what they might become.
