More about this book

Story

Max and her flock are still on the run after the events of the first book, trying to stay together while enemies keep hunting them. Their search for answers about their origins continues, even as Max is pulled between survival, responsibility, and the strange voice in her head.

A mysterious FBI-connected adult offers them temporary shelter, a house, and even school, giving the kids a brief chance at something closer to a normal life. That normalcy is unstable, though: injuries, suspicion, romantic tension, and more attacks keep disrupting their attempt to blend in.

As new information surfaces about their past and the forces behind their creation, the flock is forced back into danger. The book ends with the situation still unresolved, leaving the group facing bigger threats and more questions about who they are and what they’re meant to do.
