The Story
Joanne Baldwin is finally getting a break when her Djinn lover David proposes marriage, and she says yes. The engagement throws her into wedding planning, faction politics, and unwanted attention from reporters, while other Wardens and Djinn react with suspicion or open hostility.
A devastating earthquake in Florida signals a new danger: an unseen force that the Djinn cannot perceive or explain. Joanne and her allies have to investigate a threat that bypasses the usual powers and knowledge of their world, even as attacks escalate and trust inside the community breaks down.
As enemies close in, Joanne is pushed into repeated fights, recovery, and impossible choices. The wedding becomes part of the strategy to expose the threat, but the conflict widens into a larger war involving Wardens, Djinn, and a splinter faction determined to destroy them.
