More about this book

Story

Joe Chip works for a prudence organization that counters psychic intrusion, alongside a team of telepaths, precogs, and inertials in a future where everyday life is commercialized and eerie. During a job on the Moon, a deadly blast upends the mission and leaves the team trapped in uncertainty about who is alive, dead, or somewhere in between.

As the characters move through a shifting world, communication with the dead, cold-pac half-life, and changing environments make it harder to tell what is real. Messages from beyond the grave, corporate rivalry, and the strange influence of Ubik keep pulling the story into new layers of possibility.

The novel follows the group through escalating twists and reality slippage, withholding certainty until the end. Its narrative engine is the collision of psi powers, death, and unstable perception, with chapter-opening ads for Ubik framing the whole experience.
