Sal has finally found a place where she belongs among the Black Blades, but that safety is fragile. Their people are being treated as a military asset, a threat, and a target all at once, and the humans around them are divided between support and hostility.

As the Blades’ Iliri nature becomes harder to hide, they are pushed into political maneuvering, covert missions, and dangerous alliances. Sal keeps learning what it means to be Iliri, while the group works to survive betrayals, protect themselves, and navigate a war with much larger stakes.

At the same time, Sal’s relationships deepen inside a tight-knit pack structure, with romance, loyalty, jealousy, and family-like bonds all shaping the story. The book keeps one mission and one larger conflict in motion, building toward a broader struggle over power, belonging, and the future of the Iliri.
