More about this book

The Story

Sixteen-year-old Janelle Tenner is already carrying a heavy load: school, work, and the care of her family. After a truck kills her, she wakes up alive and believes a mysterious boy from school, Ben Michaels, somehow brought her back.

Janelle starts digging into Ben, her father’s FBI work, and a series of strange deaths that involve radiation burns and other uncanny details. As she investigates, she finds a countdown tied to something ominous and realizes the situation is bigger than her own accident.

With time running out, Janelle keeps pulling together clues from school, family, and secret government-adjacent cases. The story builds around her attempts to learn what Ben knows, what the countdown means, and how to stop whatever is coming before it reaches zero.
