More about this book

Story

In a near-future New York, homicide detective Eve Dallas is assigned a high-profile murder case involving a senator’s daughter and a string of related killings. The investigation pulls her into politics, elite society, and the legal world of licensed prostitution.

As Eve follows the clues, one suspect keeps reappearing: Roarke, a wealthy, powerful, and intensely magnetic man who is also drawing her in personally. Their attraction complicates the case and tests Eve’s need for control, trust, and emotional safety.

The murder inquiry unfolds as a police procedural with romantic tension running alongside it, while the book also establishes the core relationship and ongoing series world. The case grows darker as more violence and danger emerge, and the story ends by setting up the continuing partnership and conflict between Eve and Roarke.
