More about this book

Story

A government-engineered superflu escapes containment and rapidly devastates the population, leaving scattered survivors struggling to understand what happened and how to stay alive. As civilization collapses, the remaining people begin having vivid dreams that seem to pull them toward different destinations and different destinies.

The survivors gradually gather into competing communities, one built around hope, faith, and rebuilding, the other around fear, domination, and allegiance to a dark leader. Their stories unfold through many interwoven character arcs as they travel, adapt, and try to remake life in a ruined America.

As the two sides harden into factions, the novel moves toward a larger confrontation over the future of what remains. Along the way, it emphasizes survival, moral choice, and the emotional and social aftermath of catastrophe, while keeping the plague and its consequences at the center of the narrative engine.
