Cloud Cuckoo Land

Cloud Cuckoo Land moves among several characters across past, present, and future, with an ancient, fictional Greek text at the center of the novel’s design. The book links a 15th-century city under siege, contemporary Idaho, and a far-future setting in a story about survival, reading, and the persistence of stories.

In the historical thread, an orphaned seamstress and a boy marked as cursed cross paths amid war and the search for books and manuscripts. In the present-day thread, an older translator, a troubled teenager, and a library setting bring together themes of language, loss, and environmental anxiety.

In the future thread, a young girl lives on a ship or in a closely controlled future environment and turns to the old story for guidance. Across all timelines, the narrative slowly reveals how one text, and the people who preserve or interpret it, can connect lives across generations.
