More about this book

Story

Roz, a robot, wakes up alone on a remote island after a shipwreck and has no idea how she got there or what she is meant to do. The island’s animals fear her at first, and she must learn to survive in a harsh wilderness while adapting to a world she does not understand.

As Roz observes the island, she learns to communicate with its creatures, slowly earning trust through patience, helpfulness, and persistence. Her life changes when she becomes responsible for an orphaned gosling, and the story expands into questions of family, community, and what it means to belong.

The book remains centered on survival and connection, but later developments bring danger, loss, and the return of Roz’s unknown past. The narrative balances tenderness with peril, building toward an ending that leaves room for continuation in the series.
