More about this book

The Story

After a routine case involving a senseless murder, Peabody becomes the primary detective for the first time and begins stepping into greater responsibility. That shift becomes dangerous when, while using an old gym shower at headquarters, she overhears two officers discussing corruption and murder and realizes they are dirty cops.

Peabody escapes without being discovered and brings what she heard to Eve and Roarke. From there, the case becomes a covert, evidence-driven effort to identify the corrupt officers, protect witnesses, and build a solid internal case before the suspects realize they’ve been exposed.

As the investigation widens, Eve, Peabody, Roarke, and the wider team work through tension, fear, and professional pressure to bring down the rogue squad. The story emphasizes teamwork, leadership, and the growing confidence of Peabody as the group closes in on a dangerous corruption ring.
