More about this book

The Story

Lieutenant Eve Dallas is called to investigate the death of a young sculptor found in her West Village studio. At first, the scene looks like a lover’s quarrel turned deadly, but the 911 caller’s delayed report and inconsistent story make Eve suspicious.

As Eve and her team dig into the victim, the caller, and the people around them, the case widens beyond a single murder. The investigation exposes secrets tied to a powerful, fanatical group and pulls in other agencies as the team follows the trail through lies, intimidation, and increasingly disturbing crimes.

The deeper Eve looks, the clearer it becomes that the case is about more than one death. What begins as homicide becomes a larger effort to unravel a criminal conspiracy and confront a dangerous ideology that has been harming vulnerable people behind a polished public front.
