More about this book

Story

Bobbi Anderson discovers a strange metal object buried in the woods near her home in Haven, Maine, and becomes obsessed with uncovering it. As she digs deeper, both she and her surroundings begin to change, and her old friend Jim Gardener comes to see that something is terribly wrong.

The story widens from Bobbi and Gardener into the lives of Haven’s residents as the object’s influence spreads. People develop unsettling abilities, experience physical and mental changes, and the town starts to feel increasingly unstable and divided.

As more is revealed about the buried object and its effect on the community, the novel moves toward a larger confrontation over what should be done with it. The story builds from mystery and dread into escalating chaos, with the town’s fate hanging on the outcome of the excavation and the forces it has awakened.
