More about this book

The Story

During World War II, Captain Joe Farley leads a B-17 bomber crew on dangerous missions over Germany and lives with the routines, banter, and technical demands of air war. On a bombing run, the aircraft is thrown out of its own time and into a devastated alternate world.

Stranded among two competing survivor groups in a decaying future, the crew must protect their plane, navigate new alliances, and survive attacks from hostile forces and strange technologies. Farley also encounters a woman tied to his dreams and the plane’s nose art, pulling the story toward romance as well as rescue.

The crew’s central goal becomes finding a way home, repairing what they can, and understanding the conflict around them. The story moves between wartime action, strange future developments, and a later look at what the experience means for the crew after the fact.
