Story

Susan Simmons returns to sixth grade and quickly senses that her new substitute teacher, Mr. Smith, is deeply strange. When she learns he is an alien, she realizes the school year has become a dangerous secret to solve.

No one believes Susan at first except Peter, a science-fiction-loving classmate who helps her look for proof. As the two investigate, they uncover that Mr. Smith has a hidden agenda involving their classmates and that the truth is even bigger than Susan expected.

The story follows their attempts to gather evidence, outwit the alien, and protect the class while still navigating ordinary school pressures. The tension builds through quick chapters and recurring setbacks, ending with a sudden resolution that sets up more stories in the series.
