Story

In a near-future world, a series of interconnected stories begins with life-saving medical intervention and genetic modification. Each section moves farther into the future, showing how human bodies, social norms, and definitions of “human” shift as science advances.

Across the linked stories, different characters face consequences of enhancement, repair, and redesign: organ replacement, altered bodies, engineered children, new social hierarchies, and increasingly extreme forms of human change. A recurring religious figure threads through the timeline as debates about ethics, purity, and progress intensify.

As the futures grow stranger and more distant, the book keeps asking what should be done with powerful new science, not just what can be done. The stories build toward larger questions about power, privilege, discrimination, autonomy, and whether perfection comes at the cost of humanity itself.
