The Story

In the city of Ark, survivors live under strict language rules: only a limited set of approved words may be spoken, and breaking the rules can bring punishment or banishment. Letta is an apprentice Wordsmith, trained to collect, record, and protect language for the community while most citizens are kept to the List.

When Letta’s master disappears or dies, she is thrust into the role herself and begins to see that Ark’s leader has been hiding more than he admits. As she encounters outsiders, rebels, and guarded secrets, she starts questioning the beliefs she grew up with and the idea that restricting words is meant to protect humanity.

Her search for the truth turns into a struggle over language, art, memory, and the future of Ark. As the pressure builds, Letta must decide whom to trust and whether to help stop a larger plan to strip the city of words entirely.
