The Story

London is under lockdown as a lethal flu outbreak spreads, curfews and checkpoints reshape daily life, and the city grows tense, empty, and dangerous. Amid the chaos, workers building a temporary hospital uncover a bag of bones that turns out to belong to a murdered child.

DI Jack MacNeil, on his last day before retirement, takes the case and works with forensic specialists to identify the child and find the killer. As he follows the clues, his own family is touched by the virus and sinister figures begin tracking his every move.

The investigation becomes a race against both time and contagion as the city’s collapse deepens. The story moves across a tightly compressed period, building toward a confrontation in which the murder inquiry, the conspiracy, and the pandemic crisis collide.
