The Story
In 2016, a strange volcano begins growing out of Central Park in New York City, and the event quickly becomes more than a local catastrophe. As it looms larger, people across the world find their lives jolted into strange, interconnected crises.
The narrative moves among many characters in short, shifting sections, including scholars, writers, refugees, farmers, and other figures facing trauma, identity conflict, and surreal transformation. Their stories unfold across multiple places and timelines, with reality often bending, repeating, or splitting.
As the book progresses, the volcano becomes part of a larger network of environmental, political, and existential upheaval. Myth, violence, grief, and hope recur alongside bizarre changes to bodies, landscapes, and time itself, building toward an ending that is itself shaped by multiplicity and uncertainty.
