The Story

Ursa discovers she can revisit her own past through memory, and that ability draws women into her orbit. She leaves home for California, where a secluded community forms around her in a mansion in the woods outside Santa Cruz.

As the community darkens, Ursa's son Ray and his pregnant lover Cherry flee to Los Angeles to make a new life. But the past keeps intruding, and their daughter Opal grows up surrounded by absences, secrets, and the consequences of what came before.

Years later, Opal must use her own connection to memory and the past to uncover what happened across generations. Her search threads together family history, abandonment, and the lingering force of Ursa's gift and influence.
