More about this book

The Story

Jolie is close to aging out of foster care when a cryptic message draws her into a new placement and a frightening chain of events. As fragments of her past begin to surface, she realizes that the people around her, including the boys connected to her new home, may be tied to secrets she has forgotten.

The boys are part of a hidden organization that has trained them from birth and shaped them into weapons. Jolie’s arrival disrupts their group, awakens buried emotions, and pulls both sides into a web of tests, lies, and half-remembered truths.

As Jolie pushes to uncover what happened to her and why she feels such a strong connection to the people around her, the story keeps layering new reveals onto old mysteries. The book ends with a major cliffhanger that recontextualizes much of what came before and sets up the next installment.
