The Story

Six months after a revolution, Noam is serving close to the new regime while secretly remembering that the leader he trusts is the source of the crisis that ravaged the country. To survive, he keeps up the role of favored protégé long enough to undermine him from within and steal what he needs to stop the spreading threat.

Meanwhile, Dara returns after being separated from Noam and losing his magic. He joins the effort to take the leader down, but he and Noam now see the path forward very differently. Their attempted alliance is strained by fear, grief, distrust, and the damage left by what they have both endured.

As the resistance, the government, and the relationship between the two boys all tighten around the same conflict, the story follows their efforts to expose the truth, survive manipulation, and decide what justice can look like without becoming the same kind of force they are fighting.
