The Story

After a devastating battle, Nate Garrett is living as an apparently ordinary man in Clockwork, Oregon, while the world believes him dead. He is waiting for his magic to return, trying to stay hidden, and trying to keep the town and the people he cares about safe as Avalon’s threat closes in.

The story follows Nate’s struggle to protect his new life even without powers, while a second thread follows Layla and a group operating in other realms against Avalon’s wider plans. The book moves between these strands as old allies, new arrivals, and long-running conflicts converge, with mythology, gods, and other non-human beings shaping the conflict.

As Nate’s history, family, and powers are gradually revealed, the larger war expands and the pressure on everyone rises. The narrative builds toward new revelations, renewed magic, and a bigger confrontation to come, while also setting up the next stage of the ongoing series.
