The Story
In Newford, a mysterious crash hits the Wordwood, a popular online research-and-library site that seems to have a life of its own. People visiting at the wrong moment vanish from their computers, including Saskia, a woman closely tied to the site and to Christy Riddling.
Christy and a wide circle of friends, allies, and other Newford regulars try to understand what happened and how to reach the place where the Wordwood has a physical presence. Their search moves between the ordinary world, cyberspace, and other realities linked to spirits, faerie, and the borderlands.
As the rescue effort unfolds, the characters confront questions about identity, reality, memory, and what it means to be real. The story follows multiple viewpoints as the group works to recover the missing people and stop the danger spreading through the Wordwood.
