The Story

After her estranged father dies, Cara Devon returns to London to settle his estate and dispose of his collection of priceless artifacts. Her plans unravel when a series of murders among young noble women appears tied to one particular Egyptian relic, Nefertiti's Heart, that is hidden somewhere among the collection.

As Cara searches for clues, she is drawn into uneasy contact with Nathaniel Lyons, a powerful and dangerous viscount with his own interest in the artifacts and in Cara herself. Their attraction builds alongside suspicion, danger, and a criminal investigation that keeps tightening around her.

While Cara tries to uncover the relic, identify the killer, and protect herself from becoming the next victim, the story alternates between mystery and romance. The plot uses secrets from her past, clues left behind by her father, and the killer's actions to push toward a climax where the artifact hunt and murder case finally converge.
