More about this book

The Story

Chess and his crew have escaped the slums and reached Port Oro, but safety is short-lived. The city needs Chess to help find the Compass, an ancient machine said to control the Fog before it swallows everything.

As enemies close in, Chess, Hazel, Bea, Swedish, and others push through dangerous territory, including subways, air battles, and deadly creatures in the fog. The search forces the crew to rely on each other while Chess confronts his unusual connection to the Fog and his own growing responsibilities.

The quest becomes a race against time as the team moves toward the Compass and the truth behind it. Along the way, the story leans on action, humor, and close crew bonds while building toward a climactic confrontation that could decide the future of Port Oro and the wider world.
